Description from the seller

Chinese Export Famille Rose Twin-Handled Chocolate Cup and Saucer, Qianlong Period (1736–1795)

A fine and elegant Chinese Export porcelain twin-handled chocolate cup and saucer dating to the Qianlong period (1736–1795).

The cup and matching saucer are beautifully decorated in delicate famille rose enamels, closely resembling the refined enamel palette associated with higher-quality eighteenth-century export wares. The surfaces are adorned with finely painted floral motifs, executed with remarkable precision and artistic sensitivity. The porcelain body is exceptionally thin, translucent, and of outstanding quality, demonstrating the high standards achieved by the Jingdezhen kilns during the Qianlong era.

The cup features two elegant loop handles and a gilt-decorated rim, reflecting the fashionable European taste for hot chocolate services in the eighteenth century. Chocolate cups of this type were produced specifically for export to Western markets and remain highly sought after by collectors of Chinese export porcelain.

Dimensions

* Cup height: 7.8 cm
* Saucer diameter: 13.5 cm

Condition
The cup has a small chip to the rim. The saucer appears to have an old restoration, consistent with its age. Aside from these issues, the set displays attractively, with the enamels and gilding remaining well preserved. Please refer carefully to the photographs for a full assessment of condition.

A highly decorative and desirable Qianlong-period chocolate cup and saucer, combining elegant European form with the exceptional craftsmanship of eighteenth-century Chinese export porcelain. Its refined decoration, quality porcelain body, and historical appeal make it an attractive addition to any collection of Chinese export wares.
