Hair brush by Unger Brothers, Newark, NJ, with a sterling silver (.925) bas-relief cover in Art Nouveau style dating to 1901, about 24 × 5.5 cm, gross weight 126 g, monogrammed and in good used condition with signs of age and some stains.
Description from the seller
Unger Brothers, Newark NJ, hair brush with a relief cover in sterling silver 925, approx. 24x5.5 cm.
The decoration, of a very refined Art Nouveau matrix, appears to belong, by descriptive affinity, to the series "The Wave" and it is very likely the model "Bride of the Wave" (see www.silverpatterns.org). This brush is personalized with a monogram and dated 1901, almost certainly a cherished and prestigious gift. It is possible that the bristles are horsehair. In generally good condition, considering the object's age and its use: there is an evident junction at the front end between the relief-ornament cover and the brush base.
Although primarily a collectible and decorative item, the bristles are still well anchored and the brush remains fully usable.
The weight is to be understood as gross total weight, including all external materials and the internal structure. As typical for this category of grooming objects, dating from an era more than vintage, the sterling silver parts are mounted on an internal core and do not correspond to the silver's net weight.
The photographs are an integral part of the description.
Careful packaging, trackable and insured shipping.
(For some domestic and foreign locations, the cost and delivery times may be higher than indicated).
