An exceptional set of five decorative ceramic plates attributed to Monique Pansier and Kurt Brunner's workshop, made in the second half of the 20th century. Each piece features a different composition inspired by the marine world, with fish and other aquatic creatures interpreted through an expressive, strongly plastic language, characterized by spontaneous strokes, defined profiles, and a vibrant polychromy in which intense orange tones predominate over richly textured backgrounds.

The marine theme is one of the most representative motifs of Monique Pansier's work, who began her career as a potter after training at the prestigious Madoura studio in Vallauris, where she met Suzanne Ramié and Pablo Picasso. Subsequently she worked as a decorator in the Cerenne workshop, run by the Neveu couple, during which she met Kurt Brunner, with whom she founded her own studio and developed prolific production between Vallauris and Vence until her retirement in 1988.

The pieces retain on their reverse marks from both ceramic centers, reflecting the evolution of her artistic and commercial activity, highly valued both in the French Riviera market and in the decoration of restaurants and prestigious establishments in the Cannes area.

Vallauris, which during the 20th century became one of the great centers of European studio pottery thanks to the momentum of artists such as Chagall or Picasso, fostered the emergence of numerous workshops of extraordinary quality, among which the Pansier and Brunner workshop stood out, whose creations are today particularly valued by collectors for their originality, technical quality, and close link with the renewal of postwar French pottery.
