Large and impressive French mantel clock from the second half of the 19th century, executed in patinated spelter and featuring an elegant figural composition.
The clock depicts a seated nobleman or scholar dressed in period clothing, accompanied by a young woman standing beside him. The richly decorated base displays Gothic and floral motifs typical of the Napoleon III period.
The white enamel dial with Roman numerals is framed by an ornate case. The clock retains its original antique patina, showing signs of age and wear consistent with its historical character.
Condition:
Good antique condition with visible wear and oxidation due to age.
Minor surface losses and patina wear.
The movement has not been tested for long-term accuracy.
Material: Patinated spelter.
Origin: France.
Period: Late 19th century (circa 1870-1900).
