Cigarette case - .875 (84 Zolotniki) silver - Silver cigarette case

Magnificent cigarette case made in sterling silver 875, attributable to the Soviet Union, circa the 1940s–1950s. The lid is decorated with a fine engraving of the famous Sochi Arboretum (Дендрарий), depicting its emblematic classical pavilion surrounded by subtropical vegetation and accompanied by the original Cyrillic inscription «Сочи – Дендрарий».

This piece reflects the tradition of high-quality Soviet silversmithing, whose production preserved many of the techniques, proportions, and artisanal standards developed by the silversmiths of Imperial Russia. The finish quality, precision of engraving, and excellent workmanship make this cigarette case reminiscent of the finest works of pre-revolutionary Russian silverware.

The interior preserves its original gilding (vermeil), intended to protect the silver and better preserve its contents. It also retains the original inner elastic bands.

It presents the corresponding Soviet hallmarks, including the 875 silver assay mark, the worker’s head, a feature of Soviet silverware from the mid-20th century, and the maker’s mark.
