Description from the seller

Bodywork and Paint

This 1985 Burlington kit car is presented in very good overall condition. The bodywork is straight and the paintwork has a deep gloss with an attractive finish. The car was professionally repainted during its rebuild and has been well cared for since. There are no known dents, significant scratches or rust issues, and there is no known accident damage.

The chrome trim is in good condition and complements the classic British styling of the car. The rubber seals are in good order and the lighting system functions correctly. The only exterior imperfection worth mentioning is a crack in the windscreen. Apart from this, the exterior presents very well.

The underside is in good condition with no known areas requiring welding or repair.

Technical Condition

This Burlington is based on the reliable Triumph Vitesse chassis and is powered by the desirable 2.0-litre Triumph inline six-cylinder engine producing approximately 110 hp. The engine is standard specification and has not been modified.

Mechanically, the car is in excellent condition. It starts immediately, both from cold and when warm, idles smoothly and performs exactly as it should. The 4-speed manual gearbox shifts smoothly and is equipped with the desirable overdrive, making the car more comfortable for longer journeys.

One of the highlights of this car is its fantastic exhaust note. The Triumph straight-six has a wonderful, classic sound that perfectly suits the character of the car and makes every drive a memorable experience.

Recent maintenance includes:

* Engine service including valve adjustment
* New front suspension bushes
* Steering system inspected
* Brakes serviced
* Electrical system checked with improved wiring in the engine bay
* Five new wheels fitted with new Continental CT22 tyres (less than 500 km driven)
* New Spitfire Mk3 rear lights with additional amber indicators
* New matching steering wheel
* Valid Dutch APK (roadworthiness inspection)

There are no known mechanical faults or fluid leaks. The clutch, suspension and braking system all operate correctly. The car drives exceptionally well and is ready to be enjoyed immediately.

Interior Condition

As a Burlington kit car, the interior is custom-built rather than factory original, giving it a unique and handcrafted appearance that perfectly matches the character of the vehicle.

The seats, upholstery, dashboard and interior trim are all in very good condition. The interior has been well maintained and shows only light signs of use consistent with its age.

All gauges, switches, lighting and electrical equipment function correctly. The car is also supplied with a full convertible roof in burgundy, matching the interior and allowing comfortable use in changing weather conditions.

Documentation

The car is registered in the Netherlands under registration number XZ-003-X. The original registration documents, maintenance records, invoices and Dutch APK documentation are included. The extensive maintenance history demonstrates that the vehicle has been cared for regardless of cost.

Vehicle History

During ownership the car was always stored in a dry garage and maintained to a very high standard. Significant investments have been made in keeping it mechanically excellent and reliable, with all invoices retained as evidence of the work carried out.

This is not just a rare British kit car, but a well-maintained enthusiast’s vehicle that is ready to be driven and enjoyed by its next owner. Its lightweight construction, responsive handling, smooth Triumph six-cylinder engine and incredible exhaust sound make it a truly special classic that attracts attention wherever it goes.

Disclaimer

Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
