Description

Important original Russian icon depicting Saint Nicholas of Myra (Nicholas the Wonderworker), one of the most venerated saints of Eastern Christian tradition. The work is executed in tempera on a wooden panel with a gilded background and presents the classical iconography of the saint in episcopal attire, with the Gospel in the left hand and the right hand in blessing. On the sides are depicted Christ and the Virgin, while in the frame there are figures of saints within reserves.

The icon is datable to the 19th century and preserves notable historical and devotional charm. On the back there is the traditional structure with two crossbars (sponki), typical of ancient Russian production, as well as the natural signs of time and use that attest to its authenticity and long conservation.

The work is accompanied by the certificate of authenticity issued by Telemarket S.p.A. (Certification no. 490 of October 29, 1999), which describes it as:
