AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Exceptionally signed copy on the front flyleaf by Franco Fontana (born in 1933), unique and unavailable in signed copies. 120 pages and about a hundred color photographs printed full page, texts in Italian by Flaminio Gualdoni. Hardcover edition with illustrated dust jacket. In excellent condition, like new.

Franco Fontana was born in Modena, Italy. From his early days in photography he chose color and quickly became interested in the representation of landscapes, of which he has become the undisputed master. By eliminating every superfluous element from his images, he combines lines, shapes and colors with great economy of means, which allows him to reach a degree of abstraction comparable to modern painting. Through extreme simplicity of forms he composes abstract landscapes that bring together two or three zones of color. He will also be interested in urban landscapes, isolating essential elements in search of harmony of forms and colors. The human figure then appears in these urban compositions in the form of shadows or silhouettes.

Franco Fontana has established himself internationally as one of the "inventors" of color photography, that is to say one of the first photographers able to express a complete language entirely conceived with color. Due to their chromaticism and composition, these landscapes lie at the border between representation and abstraction.

Book from my personal collection, in excellent condition (almost like new), kept with the greatest care. Very efficient protected shipping and internationally tracked mail guaranteed. In case of multiple purchases, possibility of grouped shipping with refund of postage paid in excess via Paypal.
