The Canon Zoom 250 Super 8 model (introduced in February 1969) is a compact, lightweight camera designed specifically for export markets such as Europe and America. Thanks to the simple operation, it is an excellent entry model for analog-film enthusiasts seeking that typical retro look.

The camera stands out for using plastic in the housing and lens mount to keep the weight down (only 520 grams).

Lens: Canon Zoom 10.8 – 27mm f/1.8 (2.5x zoom) with 12 elements in 10 groups.
Focus: Manual focus from 1.5 meters to infinity.
Zoom: Manual operation via a lever.
Exposure: Automatic diaphragm setting linked to the film speed (CdS meter).
Film speed: 18 frames per second (fps).

Batteries and power
Note that this model requires two different types of batteries:
Motor drive: 3x AA batteries (not included, sufficient for about 8 film cassettes).
Light meter: 2x 1.3V M20 (No. 625) mercury batteries (not included, nowadays often replaced by modern hearing-aid batteries or adapters).
