Craftsman vintage tombstone-style metal toolbox, made in the United States, dating from about 1930–1940, in good used condition with minor signs of age, constructed from aluminum and measuring 34 cm high, 51 cm wide and 22 cm deep.
Description from the seller
It’s a vintage Craftsman toolbox in the “tombstone” style, that design so recognizable for its domed lid that resembles a small metal vault. The top curvature isn’t just aesthetics: at the time it was devised to add rigidity, prevent deformation, and allow the interior to be used better without adding unnecessary weight. That combination of functionality and character is precisely what has made this format an icon of 20th-century American utilitarian design.
The metal body shows the charm of use and weathering: light paint subtly worn, small marks that speak of long days of work, and that honest air that only objects that have truly served can have. The upper handle, sturdy and well-proportioned, maintains Craftsman’s typical ergonomics, while the front latch preserves the practical simplicity of boxes designed to open and close hundreds of times without failing.
The presence of the classic emblem adds a touch of industrial identity, recalling a time when tools and their containers were built to last decades. Taken together, it is a piece with working-class soul, retro aesthetics, and a collectible appeal that goes beyond its original function.
Certified shipping and good packaging.
