Description from the seller

Old oval frame with faux bois finish (wood grain effect) – Late 19th / early 20th century
Fascinating and evocative antique oval frame from the late Victorian / early 1900s era, characterized by refined handcrafted work. The surface features a decorative faux wood finish with warm streaks and amber grains on a dark background, a period-typical technique to embellish plaster and wood supports. This type of frame was originally intended to host vintage charcoal-printed photographic portraits, Liberty prints, or mercury mirrors. It retains the original vintage hanging cord on the back for wall suspension. A piece with strong character, ideal for restoration projects or as a ready-to-hang decorative element in interiors with a classic, vintage, or eclectic taste.
Details and specifications:
Shape: Oval
Era: Late 19th century / Early 20th century (circa 1890-1910)
Style: Eclectic / Umbertine / Late Victorian
Finish: Lacquer with faux bois wood-grain effect
Conditions: Good overall condition, consistent with age and use. It shows a beautiful vintage patina, light signs of wear on the surface, and slight edge losses on the outer rims that attest to its authenticity and do not compromise the overall aesthetics (please review the attached photos carefully). The frame is sold without glass and backing."
