French silver jardinière centrepiece marked BOIN-TABURET A PARIS with export mark and tête de Mercure, dating from the late 19th century, dimensions 15.5 cm high by 25.5 cm diameter, main silver component 3055 g with removable liner (believed silver plated) 587 g, total 3642 g, in good condition with normal signs of use and ageing, featuring a removable inner liner and a Greek inscription.
Description from the seller
French silver table centrepiece / jardinière marked for Boin-Taburet, Paris, late 19th century.
Plus marked with Export mark, tête de Mercure, used after 1878, 1st title.
The piece is richly decorated in relief with floral and classical motifs and is fitted with a removable inner liner.
It is marked “BOIN-TABURET A PARIS” and bears additional French silver hallmarks, all shown in the photographs.
Of particular interest is the original Greek presentation inscription:
“Τοις προσφιλεστάτοις μου τέκνοις Στεφάνω και Ελένη. Ενθύμιον Πατρικόν. Ευσταθίου Ευγενίδη.”
Translated:
“To my dearest children, Stephanos and Eleni. A paternal keepsake. Efstathios Eugenidis.”
