Bucket - Copper, Brass

A red-copper, fully riveted and heavily worked cauldron. This type of cauldron is sometimes called a “Friese” cauldron, but in my opinion it could originate from anywhere in the Netherlands. The cauldron is entirely made in very heavy red copper with a wrought-iron handle. The weight of the cauldron is almost 6 kilograms, the height is 33.5 cm (excluding the handle) and the diameter is 38 cm. The cauldron is almost pristine, it only has a minimal hole high up in the wall. This hole could have been deliberately made to indicate a certain size, I’m told. The cauldron has a gorgeous patina and would look very good, for example, as a block bin by the open hearth.
