Marcello Nizzoli - Olivetti, Studio 44 - Typewriter - 1960-1970

Iconic Olivetti Studio 44 mechanical typewriter, one of the most celebrated and recognizable pieces of mid-20th century Italian industrial design. Designed originally in 1952 by the prestigious architect and designer Marcello Nizzoli in collaboration with engineer Giuseppe Beccio, this model was intelligently conceived as a 'semi-portable' or studio machine. Its purpose was to fill the market gap by offering the mechanical robustness and high performance of a standard office machine in a format substantially more compact.

This unit features its original aluminum die-cast housing in the classic sought-after blue-green / muted turquoise (seafoam green) color characteristic of the brand. It has a Spanish QWERTY keyboard, which includes the physical "Ñ" key, and keeps clearly visible its elegant original metal front emblem with the inscription "Olivetti Studio 44".

It shows genuine patina from use over time, with light wear marks and small localized paint chips at the exposed corners of the upper housing (visible in the right front profile). The mechanical keys and the side plastic controls are intact and clean.
* Mechanical: The typing levers, the space bar, the uppercase keys, and the carriage return move normally. The platen and paper guides are firm. (Note for the buyer: As with most vintage mechanical objects, it may require replacing the two-tone ink ribbon if you intend to use it intensively for daily writing).
