Two antique steel padlocks dating to the 1900–1910 period in a vintage style from Austria.

AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Two padlocks dating to the late 19th century. In nice condition of upkeep and in good working order. Their origin lies in Austria, as they were bought there at an antique market in Vienna. They have been lightly cleaned and conserved. The first one, located on the left side, has a movable key cover and characteristic ears at the top of the lid. It closes in two turns and has one very nice key. Its dimensions are height 115 mm, width 80 mm, and thickness 25 mm. Weight: 420 grams. The second padlock is of the Star Lock Works type in a Scandinavian style (Polhem), dating from the mid- to late-19th century, with a barrel-shaped body and a five-pointed star signature on the bottom of this padlock. It is very rarely found in Europe. It has one skeleton-type key and closes in one turn. You insert the key correctly using this rule: on the shackle, the left side shows a dot, and on the left side of the key’s ear is a dot. It also has a beautiful copper chain, which in my opinion dates from a later period. Its dimensions are height 92 mm, width 60 mm, and thickness 40 mm. Weight: 610 grams. I estimate the value of these two padlocks at a minimum of 150 euros.
