Beautiful Russian Orthodox icon, called the “monthly icon” or Menaion, probably created in the 19th century.
Egg tempera and gold highlights on a wooden panel, featuring a liturgical calendar illustrated with numerous scenes and saints arranged in registers.
The decoration stands out for its rich polychromy, a luminous gold background, and an ornamental frame with geometric and floral motifs.
