Old heraldic seal in metal and wood – armorial matrix with lions – 18th/19th century
Wax seal composed of a patinated turned wooden handle, mounted on a circular metal matrix.
The matrix features a finely engraved heraldic design: a central shield charged with a cross motif (or a stylized saltire), supported by two facing lions, within a rich ornamental surround (scrollwork and a stylized crown). The whole evokes a coat of arms of nobiliary or bourgeois tradition.
Beautiful impression visible on red wax, allowing appreciation of the engraving quality and the depth of relief.
