Description from the seller

French Napoleon III pendulum in patinated bronze and gilded bronze – Marti & Cie movement – 19th century

Magnificent French antique pendulum from the Napoleon III era, made in the second half of the 19th century (around 1870-1885), featuring an elegant romantic composition in patinated bronze and gilded bronze.

The decor depicts a young child sitting on a tree trunk beneath a majestic oak, treated with remarkable attention to detail. The rich rococo ornamentation, foliage and flowers testify to the craftsmanship of French founders of the period.

The quality of the sculpture, the finesse of the chasing, and the various patinas give this clock an exceptional decorative presence.

The whole rests on a rectangular base adorned with finely chased gilded bronzes.

The movement is signed Marti & Cie, one of the most prestigious French manufacturers of clock movements in the 19th century, awarded the Bronze Medal (inscription visible on the movement).
