The Aluminium Chair is one of the greatest design pieces of the 20th century. Charles and Ray Eames conceived and designed this chair in 1958 for the private residence of an art collector in Columbus, Indiana (United States). For its creation, the designer couple abandoned the shell-seat principle, instead stretching a panel of fabric or leather between two aluminum side elements to create a taut yet elastic seat. The chair conforms to the body and is very comfortable, even without complex padding.
