This 26 cm round Baroque centrepiece by Fratelli Coppini of Florence is made of 800 silver, weighs 232 g and dates to 1850–1900.
Description from the seller
Elegant round-shaped Centerpiece.
The Italian Craftmanship of excellent level, achieved through rich artisanal work carried out entirely by hand in repoussé and chiselling with raised decoration, depicting decorative motifs of fruit baskets and shells along the border.
It presents the typical and fascinating original patina of time, left intact to preserve the authenticity and lived experience of the centerpiece.
Material: solid silver standard 800/1000.
The Stamp present, (see photo)
which depicts a serpent twisted around a kind
of sword (often mistaken for a blade, but in reality it is a winged staff or a caduceus), associated with the other
side of the 800. They are of Italian nationality.
The Serpent stamp is the Official Identification Mark, belonging to the famous Craft Workshop of the Coppini Brothers of Florence, historic silversmiths active since the second half of the nineteenth century.
The Era with the symbol of the caduceus and the mark "800" most likely dates to a period between the late nineteenth century and 1934, the year in which Italy introduced the compulsory fascist stamp or the diamond with the provincial number.
Measurements:
Diameter: cm 26,
Height: cm 2.
Total weight: 232 g.
Conditions are excellent: the object retains its light and authentic patina of age that enhances the details of the fruit baskets and the shells, through the chiaroscuro of the relief work.
Visual note: the images have been processed to the best, but some, unfortunately, reflect in the photos the photographer, due to the silver.
Provenance:
from the owner’s collection, belonging to the famous Lucanian noble family "Appio".
Shipping will be done via Bartolini courier and will be tracked and packed with the utmost care to preserve the integrity of the object."
