Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
Bronze Age bronze arrowhead pair in good condition, authentic and original, with two triangular blades (one with square shoulders and one with slightly downward-sloping shoulders), a raised central midrib leading to a short stem and narrow tang, patination and earthly encrustations, each about 9.4–9.5 cm long and 2.2–2.4 cm wide; acquired from a private collection in 2000, provenance Ex. London Collection.
Description from the seller
A pair of Bronze Age bronze arrowheads. Both feature a triangular blade, one with square shoulders, and the other with slightly downwards-sloping shoulders. Both display a raised central midrib, which leads to a short stem, and narrow tang. Patination and earthly encrustations to the surface. Minor chips to the edges of the blades.
In ancient times a number of nomadic populations, such as the Medes and the Kassites, settled in the Western Asiatic area. Due to the nomadic nature of the tribes, none of the bronzes were of great size, since it was required for them to be light and portable. Excavated items often included weapons, tools, and finials, as well as small amulets and fittings. Everyday objects are also found including pins and bracelets. Their artwork mainly comprises ornaments, vessels and weapons. Archaeological evidence suggests that the bronze objects often serve ceremonial functions given their funerary contexts.
Measurements: (circa) L 9.4cm x W 2.4cm; L 9.5cm x W 2.2cm
Provenance: Ex. London Collection, formed between 1990 - present.
