Description from the seller

A Tibetan or Bhutanese dagger (Dozum) with silver-worked sheath

A traditional Tibetan or Bhutanese dagger, probably 20th century. The piece consists of a straight, double-edged iron blade, a handle wrapped with fine metal wire, a silver (or silver alloy) pommel, and an elaborately decorated sheath.

The front of the sheath features extensive hand-engraved floral- and dragon-like motifs, characteristic of Himalayan goldsmithing. The sheath has a leather central piece and silver upper and lower sections with repoussé work and fine edge finishing. The back shows less detailed finish with visible wear and soldering, in keeping with authentic use.

The blade shows aging patina and superficial oxidation. The pommel has an openwork design on the front and geometric engravings on the back.

Dimensions: total length approx. 30-35 cm (in sheath), blade length approx. 18-20 cm (estimated from photos—exact measurement to be confirmed by the purchaser).

Condition: Good, with signs of aging appropriate to age and use. See photos for detailed state.

Provenance: Dutch estate.
