George III Guinea (1760-1820) – Great Britain – 22kt Gold – SPL Condition

History and Importance:
The Guinea was the reference gold coin of the British monetary system before the introduction of the Sovereign (Pound Sterling) in 1817. Its name derives from the Guinea region of West Africa, from which much of the gold used by the Royal Mint for coinage originated.

Technical Details:
• Monarch: George III (Giorgio III).
• Material: 22-carat gold (fineness 916.7/1000).
• Nominal Weight: approximately 8.35 - 8.40 grams.
• Diameter: 24 - 25 mm.
• Obverse (A): Laureate portrait of King George III facing right with the inscription "GEORGIVS III DEI GRATIA".

Condition:
