A collection of seven vintage glass containers from Italy dating to the 1930s–1940s, including one 1‑litre decanter, three half‑litre carafes (two with handles and spouts), one quarter‑litre decanter, and two small measuring glasses, all in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
Amazing and heterogeneous collection of 7 antique glass containers (carafes, jugs and measuring glasses) historically used in Italian taverns and trattorias during the first half of the 20th century (1930s/1940s).
These are objects of great iconic charm and “memorabilia” of Italian eno-gastronomic culture, characterized by capacity markings embossed on the glass, official measurement stamps, medallions with crenellated heads or embossed figures.
The lot includes hourglass-shaped carafes, handle-equipped carafes with pouring spouts, and traditional bench measuring glasses.
Lot Composition and Capacity (7 Pieces Total):
1x Large 1 Liter Carafe: Tall hourglass model with raised lettering “LITRO” and a round medallion at the base.
3x Half-Liter Carafes, of which:
- 2 Handled jugs with pouring spout and “0.5 L” marking.
- 1 Hourglass carafe with raised lettering “MEZZO LITRO”.
1x Quarter-Liter Carafe (0.25 L): Hourglass model with raised lettering “QUARTO LITRO”, designation “0,25” and base medallion.
2x Small Measuring Glasses/Glasses for the Counter: Transparent, narrow-stem stemware for brandy, liqueurs or tastings.
Technical Features and Details:
Material: Clear blown/pressed antique glass of thick, high quality.
Era: 1930s – 1940s (Italy).
Feature: Capacity inscriptions in uppercase letters and numbers embossed directly in the glass during fusing. Presence of measurement stamps and factory marks in relief.
Condition:
The pieces are in pristine condition, extraordinary considering their age. They show no defects, chips, flaws or cracks. The glass remains bright, solid and perfectly intact on all edges, handles and bases.
It is recommended to view the high-resolution photos to appreciate the transparency and the care with which they have been preserved over time.
Shipping and Packaging:
Given the nature of the material, each piece will be individually packed with generous bubble wrap and anti-shock filler. Fast, secure and traceable shipping in a reinforced cardboard box.
