ARS Deruta - Vintage 19-Piece Table Service - "Libellula" Decor on Black Background - 1970s
Particular and distinctive stoneware art table service for 6 people (18 pieces plus a large serving platter), entirely made and hand-painted by the renowned ARS Deruta manufactory in the 1970s.
This set stands out for an avant-garde modernist aesthetic that boldly breaks with the Umbrian Renaissance tradition. On a glossy black, glaze-based fondo, rises a refined design depicting a graceful dragonfly with a white slender body, wings in shades of blue and green, finished on the edge by two bright red circles. A graphic design with strong visual impact and exquisite taste, Mid-Century / Italian Space Age.
Material: Glazed art pottery (terracotta/biscuit visible on the back firing recess, testimony to the kiln firing), double firing technique with a glossy ceramic glaze. Each piece bears on the bottom the authentic hand-signed signature "ARS Deruta" written in white under glaze.
On the surface of some plates the natural crackle effect (craquelé) is visible, chemical signature of the time that attests to authenticity and natural aging of the artistic ceramic, differentiating it from industrial productions.

Conditions: the service is in overall vintage very good condition, with glossy glaze and vivid colors. It is noted, as visible from the detailed photo, that one flat plate shows an internal hairline crack (natural cap of the ceramic, with no missing parts and never glued), which does not affect stability.
