Description from the seller
Elegant pair of French Louis XV-style dining chairs with hand-woven cane backrests – circa 1900–1925
A stylish and decorative pair
Offered is a beautiful, well-matched pair of dining chairs in French Louis XV style, manufactured around the early 20th century.
The chairs combine gracefully curved Cabriole legs with richly carved details and hand-woven natural cane backrests.
Refined wood carving
The solid wood frame features ornamental floral and foliate relief. Both the crest above the backrest and the rails under the seat are carefully carved. The warm walnut-toned finish gives the chairs a classic appearance.
Hand-woven cane
Both backrests feature tautly stretched, hand-woven natural cane. This is a traditional craft that is not only decorative but also lends a light and elegant look.
Comfortable seating
The generously shaped seats are upholstered in light green velvet with an entwined damask pattern. The upholstery is in neat condition and is framed by a row of classic brass nails.
Condition
The chairs are in good used condition for their age. The wood shows light signs of wear and on a few leg ends normal wear is visible. The cane is tight and intact. See the photos for a full view of the condition.
