Description from the seller
Elegant hand-carved walnut armchair – Empire/Biedermeier – circa 1820–1850 – France/Germany
Description
Very elegant antique armchair from the first half of the 19th century, crafted from solid walnut with richly hand-carved decorations.
The chair displays fine Empire and early Biedermeier influences, including a carved shell motif, scrolls, floral ornaments, and a decorative lattice pattern in the backrest.
The warm, dark-brown patina and the refined woodcarving give the armchair a stately appearance. Thanks to the generous, later professionally upholstered red velvet seat, the chair offers not only decorative value but also comfortable seating.
The armchair is in good, stable antique condition with normal signs of use corresponding to roughly 180 years of age. A few small old repairs and wear to the finish are present and belong to the character of an authentic piece of furniture from this period.
A particularly decorative piece that fits excellently in a classic interior, countryside home, hotel, boutique, or a collection of antique furniture.
Condition: Good antique condition. Normal signs of use, light wear, and small old restorations appropriate to the age. See photos for a complete picture.
Shipping: The chair will be carefully packed and insured for shipping or can be picked up by appointment.
This armchair combines elegance, craftsmanship and historical appearance and makes a valuable addition for any lover of authentic 19th-century furniture.
