Antique cage corkscrew mason-style – Compass, Square and letter G – Early 20th century
Beautiful old cage corkscrew in nickel-plated metal, adorned on the front face with the Masonry symbol composed of the compass, the square and the letter G, now slightly worn by time, evidence of its age and use.
The mechanism is complete and functional: T-handle, original screw and side crank allowing progressive extraction of the cork. The perforated body rests on the bottle neck, following the principle of cage corkscrews used at the end of the 19th century and in the early 20th century.
No maker’s mark or patent number has been found on the object.
This corkscrew has very likely been made or personalized for a Freemason. Several possibilities exist:
