Charles & Ray Eames – DAX Fohté en fiberglass « Light Ocre » – Herman Miller / Vitra – circa 1965-1975
Icon of 20th-century design, this DAX chair (Dining Height Armchair X-Base) was designed by Charles & Ray Eames and published by Herman Miller / Vitra between the 1960s and 1970s.
The shell is made of genuine molded fiberglass in the original color Light Ocre, a warm shade that today is particularly sought after by Mid-Century Modern furniture enthusiasts. It rests on its original X-Base pedestal, kept in very good condition, with an even black finish and only very light signs of use.
The various marks present allow this production to be placed among the early European editions:
– Thermoformed “V” mark under the shell.
– Shock mounts marked “H”.
– Shell, fittings and pedestal entirely original.
The chair has undergone no heavy restoration or replacement of parts. The fiberglass is in very good preserved condition, with no cracks or breaks. It only shows a few light signs of use, tiny superficial scratches, and a beautiful natural patina, perfectly consistent with its age.
This chair is an iconic piece of American design, ideal both for a modernist interior and for a collection dedicated to Charles & Ray Eames' creations.
