Description from the seller
Large specimen of Calcite on a Fluorite matrix from Balochistan, Pakistan, characterized by very rich and three-dimensional growth.
The surface is completely covered with well-developed calcite crystals, with scalenohedral habit and a very delicate gray-green tone, semi-transparent along the edges and more milky in the central parts. The terminations feature a particular natural texture that is slightly satinized, giving the crystals a soft appearance and diffusing light evenly.
Among the main crystals there are numerous second-generation crystals visible, sparsely distributed on the surface, testimony to subsequent growth phases of the specimen. In some areas there are also calcite crystals with a more tabular and translucent habit, further enriching the morphological variety of the ensemble.
The Fluorite matrix clearly protrudes in several parts of the specimen, where the characteristic cubic crystals are clearly visible, creating a pleasant contrast with the calcite and contributing to the mineralogical interest of the sample. The matrix remains partially visible along the edges and on the reverse, further enhancing the natural structure of the specimen.
The specimen is overall well preserved. There are some natural traces of iron oxides and light residual encrustations, not removed, which attest to the origin of the sample without compromising its aesthetics. The significant size, the remarkable coverage of crystals, and the presence of different growth generations make this a specimen of great visual impact, suitable for both collection and display.
