Description from the seller

PAIR OF ARMCHAIRS ATTRIBUTED TO CASSINA, MODEL 401, ITALY, 1940s

Elegant pair of post-war Italian armchairs attributed to the Cassina Technical Office and associated with Model 401, one of the finest examples of Italian furniture production from the late 1940s.

The armchairs feature a refined and harmonious structure characterized by continuous curved wooden armrests crafted with remarkable artisanal skill. Their soft, enveloping lines, balanced proportions, and visual lightness perfectly reflect the evolution of Italian design from Rationalism to the Organic Modernism of the post-war period.

The original floral jacquard upholstery enhances the authenticity and charm of the ensemble, evoking the elegance of Italian residences of the 1940s and 1950s. The wooden structure retains a beautiful aged patina, while the padding and upholstery show normal signs of wear consistent with the age of the pieces.

Comparable examples have been published and offered on the international antiques and design market as Cassina productions from the 1940s.
