Description from the seller
(Paris): Editions Stromboli, 2001. First edition. In quarto. Unpaginated. "The Machine" by photographer Mario Sorrenti is an intimate and moving book that confronts the fatal illness of his brother Davide. Davide Sorrenti, himself an established photographer, died at 23 from a drug overdose. Davide also suffered from a terminal blood disease that forced him to be connected every night to an infusion pump (the machine). The sequence of photographs, lit by a warm and intimate light, documents his nightly ritual of taking medications during Thanksgiving Day, when he was sixteen. The book is followed by a tribute written by the brother. A copy in excellent condition, bound in blue cloth without a dust jacket, as in the original edition.
