Wall sconce - Bronze - Grotesque Figure

Magnificent wall sconce cast in bronze, starring an enigmatic grotesque figure inspired by antiquity. The sculpture presents a blend of human and fantastical features: pointed ears, a beard, a torso with breasts, a prominent belly, and a deeply theatrical expression, evoking the mythological and decorative imagination of the Renaissance and Historicism.

The two satin-glass shades shaped like flames enhance the symbolic character of the piece, providing warm illumination and a strong visual impact.

It is an exceptionally uncommon model. Its iconography is difficult to classify with certainty, recalling depictions of Silenus, satyrs, or grotesque figures inspired by classical Antiquity.
