Ancient Yomud Turkmen saddle rug – 70 x 130 cm -
Charming ancient Turkmen saddle rug, woven in wool on a deep red background, featuring a traditional composition adorned with stylized gul motifs and geometric patterns characteristic of the textile art of Central Asian nomadic peoples. The main border elegantly frames the central field decorated with repetitive medallions in red, ivory, brown, and night blue tones. The ends are embellished with small protective motifs typical of Turkmen productions intended for equipping the horse and daily use by the nomadic tribes. This piece bears witness to authentic artisanal craftsmanship, with a beautiful patina and wear consistent with its age, which give it a lot of character. Its elongated shape also allows decorative use as a hallway rug, chest-front rug, or wall hanging.
