Description from the seller
Mid-Century Modern stool / ottomans – solid oak & brass details (c. 1960-1965)
Exceptional and unique Mid-Century Modern stool / ottoman, executed in solid oak with original brass foot caps and high-quality upholstery.
This chair is characterized by its elegant architectural design, lightly tapered legs, organic cutouts in the base, and premium finish. The design closely aligns with the Dutch design tradition of the sixties and strongly recalls the work of Fristho.
According to the previous owner, a former employee of the Hilton Amsterdam, these stools originate from the hotel’s interior.
There is also an old interior photo in the provenance showing several identical pieces as part of a larger arrangement. Official documentation is lacking, but the provenance supports the alleged hotel origin.
The combination of solid oak, brass details, the exceptional build quality, and the fact that these stools were part of a larger series of nine identical pieces, makes this a particularly attractive ensemble for collectors, architects, interior designers and enthusiasts of Dutch design.
