Description from the seller

Republic of the United Netherlands – Utrecht, Utrecht. Silver Ducat 1663

Silver ducat, struck at Utrecht in 1663 under the mint master Johan Gerobulus. As the mint mark, the Utrecht city shield is affixed. This type was struck without a separate mint-master mark.

The year 1663 is very rare within the Utrecht silver ducat series and appears only sporadically on the market. The specimen also bears an unknown die-mark. The origin and meaning of this could not yet be established. This mark gives the coin an extra historical and numismatic interest.
