Minox 35 EL was the first model in the series among the smallest 35 mm film cameras with full-frame ever made. It is relatively rare, since the far more popular 35 mm version by far is the 35 GT. However, as with many film cameras of the era, this first iteration is easier to use thanks to its pared-down feature set and the manufacturer's extra attention to its debut product.
