Exceptional and highly refined pair of French Empire-style candelabra made of fire-gilded bronze, dated around 1815, from the time of King Charles X, i.e. late Empire/early Restoration style. The quality of workmanship, the finely chased ornaments and the elegant proportions speak for a prestigious Paris workshop and a notable bronze founder of the era.

Each candelabrum has four flames and impresses with its richly worked details: finely modeled acanthus leaves, rosettes, channelled columns, floral decorations, and paw feet. The original fire-gilding gives the lamps an extraordinary radiance.

The pair has been professionally restored. The surface was polished and small areas soldered. Otherwise in superb condition with no dents. Even the restoration represented a significant cost. Small soldered spots from the restoration are visible upon very close inspection but do not affect the stability or the impressive overall effect.

These are originals over 200 years old, so age- and wear-related traces are, of course, present and part of the history of these extraordinary works of art. Similar items are traded at about €3,000.
