They are bigger than Barbie dolls, with a head disproportionately larger than the rest of the body, and with the feature that their eyes can open and close. There is an entire subculture around these dolls, where people collect not only dolls, but swap heads, the pupils of the eyes, eyelashes, clothing, or joints of the body. Today, Blythe dolls are considered collectible dolls aimed at an adult audience.
