Description from the seller
Argentated and repoussé copper cartaglory, 18th century
Elegant cartaglory in copper, finely repoussed and silvered, with a curved frame and rich ornamentation. The decoration, in Rococo style, features foliate scrolls, volutes, and vegetal motifs that interweave in a lively, dynamic movement. At the top stands a leonine mask, while on the sides are applied angelic heads—elements typical of 18th‑century devotional art.
The mirror inserted today is not original: the cartaglory originally contained a liturgical text on parchment or cardboard, intended for use on domestic altars or private chapels. The surface preserves traces of centuries-old patina, which enhance its value and historical character.
