Protective figure - Sénoufo - Mali

Very stylised wooden figure, representing a antelope and ment to protect households in the Senoufo community in the south-east of Mali. Very nice dark patina, indicating its long usage. Carved from one long piece of wood and with a shap eye for details. Collected in the city of Sikasso in the late 1990,s and coming from a private Dutch collection. Height.; 83 cm.
