Description from the seller
Historical clock carrier figurine made of cast iron with Black Forest cuckoo clock
Exceptional cast-iron clock carrier figurine with a fitted, functional Black Forest cuckoo clock. Clock carrier figurines represent the historical Black Forest clock carriers who, in the 18th and 19th centuries, transported clocks on foot across Europe to sell them.
What stands out is the combination of a cast-iron clock carrier figurine and a complete cuckoo clock. While most clock carrier figurines are equipped with the classic Black Forest wall clocks — especially lacquered wall clocks — configurations with a cuckoo clock are significantly rarer to find and are offered comparatively infrequently.
The clock features a mechanical spring-driven movement with a pendulum, two pinecone weights, and a key. The movement is running.
The cast-iron figure has a lovely age-related patina with authentic signs of wear, which underscore the historical character. An extraordinary collectible for lovers of Black Forest clocks, folk art, and historical cast-iron art.
The sale is conducted exclusively to make room for new clocks in my collection. Please view the photos as part of the description. Due to different screen and color settings, the color tones may deviate slightly from the original.
