Antique brass bed frame with a Victorian canopy, dating to 1850–1900, dimensions 120 cm wide by 190 cm long and about 200 cm high, in fair condition with some parts missing and no bed base included.
Description from the seller
Complete antique Victorian brass bed frame, purchased at an antiques dealer on Portobello Road, London, in the 1960s. The bed has been in dry attic storage, disassembled, for the past decade.
The headboard features a distinctive raised canopy-style top rail (half-tester), turned brass finials and ball knobs. The footboard is decorated with three circular brass medallions. Frame size: 120 x 190 cm, fitted with heavy iron side rails. Side rail measures ca. 182 cm; including the socket/collar depth where rail meets headboard and footboard posts, the assembled bed length is ca. 190 cm. The height is an estimate.
Condition: sold as found, not restored or polished. Please note the following before bidding:
• One cast-iron rail bracket has a visible crack (structural, see photos) — still functional but a buyer may wish to have this reinforced or re-welded before regular use.
• Several decorative brass finials/knobs show chips, small cracks, or come loose from their fixing (see detail photos) — the bed was disassembled for storage, so all parts are present but not currently mounted.
• One castor wheel is worn.
A photo from the 1990s (included) shows the bed fully assembled in previous use, confirming all components fit together as a complete, functional bed.
Due to size and weight, this item ships via freight/pallet courier (not standard parcel post). The seller can provide packing dimensions and assist in arranging a quote; buyer arranges and pays for shipping. Get in contact if you would like to discuss this as an option.
