Fine polished amethyst sphere from Brazil, weighing 3495 g with dimensions 14.3 × 14.3 × 44.9 cm.
Description from the seller
This ball is once again different from other amethyst balls.
It is a light lavender form.
So it is not pink amethyst or chevron amethyst or pure amethyst, but something else again.
Not often seen
Amethyst is a violet variety of the mineral quartz and is the best-known stone in the quartz group.
Brazil has important deposits of amethyst, which are mainly mined in the state of Rio Grande do Sul (with the city Ametista do Sul as the main producer) and, secondly, in Bahia. Brazil is the world's largest stone producer
The name comes from Ancient Greek ἀμέθυστος (amethustos). Amethyst was already known to the Egyptians, Etruscans and Romans, and Pliny the Elder had described amethyst.
In ancient China, small gems were cut from amethyst. In the Middle Ages, amethyst was also highly valued in Europe. It was called the bishop's stone, because it used to be a favored gemstone for church dignitaries, and it was believed to possess magical powers.[source?]
It was the symbol of lovers, the stone of temperance, protector against sorcery and witchcraft. Jacob van Maerlant’s accounts state that the stone dispels drunkenness. It has been suggested that the Greek name means "against intoxication": wine drunk from a cup made of amethyst would not make one drunk.
It will be sent fully insured
