Description from the seller
Straight-edged knife in the traditional Tuareg style (Saharan-Sahelian region, Niger, Mali, Algeria), presenting the classic aesthetic characteristics of this craft.
The blade, steel, single-edged, is adorned with a carved and inlaid decoration (traditional metal inlay technique) representing stylized floral motifs in the shape of a rosette/cluster, combined with serpentine lines and small crescent motifs, decorative vocabulary typical of Tuareg engraving.
The handle, cylindrical and segmented, is covered in worked leather (repoussé/engraved) with geometric chevron motifs, reinforced by bands ringed with metal rivets.
The matching sheath, in the same decorative spirit (leather engraved with the same chevron motifs, metal rivets), is equipped with a braided leather suspension cord.
Important note: this piece is offered as an object in the traditional Tuareg style, without authentication certificate or precise dating established. The patina and wear suggest an item that has been used, but the exact age cannot be guaranteed.
