Important catalogue devoted to the German-American painter Charline von Heyl, published for the international exhibition Snake Eyes, presented notably at the Deichtorhallen in Hamburg, the Museum Dhondt-Dhaenens in Belgium, and the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington.

The work presents a significant selection of paintings created since 2005, revealing Charline von Heyl's very personal visual language: abstract compositions, superimposed motifs, references to popular culture, graphic play, intense colors, and passages sometimes close to drawing or collage.

The great peculiarity of this publication lies in its exceptional editorial construction. It is truly two volumes bound together in a single object, each with its own spine and can be consulted independently.

The rigid binding, handmade according to a rare Z-fold structure, separates the texts and images into two connected books, arranged in mirror image. The whole can be opened in different ways or unfolded in a zigzag, taking the appearance of a true sculptural object. This concept was developed in close collaboration with Charline von Heyl, who also created a painting specially intended for the cover.

This complex and particularly inventive structure distinctly sets Snake Eyes apart from traditional exhibition catalogs. The book can be read from either end, with the two parts remaining both autonomous and inseparable.

Abundantly illustrated, the work brings together color reproductions, exhibition views, and several texts devoted to Charline von Heyl's painting.

Today out of print, it has become difficult to find, notably in near-new condition.

Condition: Copy in excellent overall condition, near mint. The two rigid bindings are solid and well secured. The zigzag structure, the joints and the connections between the two volumes are very well preserved.

Clean and fresh interior, without annotations, creased or missing pages. No page missing. The reproductions and colors are perfectly preserved.

The covers are clean and show only very light rubbing at the corners, visible in the photographs. No major impact or structural defect.
