Exquisite small Provençal desk or chest of drawers made in the 19th century, following the Louis XV style. This light writing desk stands on four curved legs. Its front features a section with two handles at the bottom and two smaller compartments in the upper section, as well as the drop-down writing tray, the desk itself. The hardware for keyhole escutcheons and hinges is in antique iron. This discreet fall-front serving the desk opens to reveal inside two small drawers and additional compartments typical of a desk. The Provençal style originates in France, in the Provence region, in the 18th century. It began its journey and development following the premises of the sophisticated and rich Louis XV style but adapted to the country houses of the French countryside where the aristocracy, and later the bourgeoisie of the time, recreated a warm atmosphere.
