Description from the seller
Napoléon III Folding Side Table - 19th Century:
Elegant folding occasional table from the Napoléon III era (19th century), featuring a rectangular top whose center bears a magnificent floral marquetry. This mural is made up of inlays of light woods and mahogany on a dark wood background, executed with great finesse.
The black varnished wooden pedestal rests on two pairs of turned and moulded legs, crossed in an X shape, joined by an interlacing bar. This retractable system allows the table to be folded with ease, offering practical modularity that does not detract from its decorative refinement.
A true decorative chameleon, it will integrate with elegance in both a contemporary interior and a more classic setting.
Dimensions: Top 74 x 48 x 2 cm
Leg height: 79 to 80 cm
Weight: about 5.2 kg.
This table is sold as-is, in its authentic original condition: the marquetry shows a few losses and lifts (veneering detached in places), the varnish is worn in places, and the foot sliding mechanism deserves a light oiling to smooth its movement.
Beyond its small signs of time, which attest to its history, this table remains perfectly functional. A light restoration will restore its full brilliance.
