Description from the seller

Rare Victorian Thomason-type mechanical corkscrew – brass – turned-leg handle – ca. 1860–1880

Very handsome 19th-century mechanical corkscrew made from solid brass with a turned-leg handle and steel spiral.

The cylinder is richly decorated with a relief of a crowned coat of arms with lions, which makes this specimen particularly decorative.

The mechanism is complete, including the original spiral, rack and pinion, and crank. The corkscrew is in a beautiful original condition with an authentic patina appropriate to the age.

No modern reproduction, but an original Victorian collectible from the second half of the 19th century.

An excellent piece for collectors of antique corkscrews, wine accessories, or Victoriana.
