Description from the seller
Antique Writing Desk-style Coffee Table in Louis XV / Napoleon III – Late '800 / Early '900
Elegant and refined center table used as a writing desk, produced at the boundary between the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century in perfect Louis XV / Napoleon III taste.
Structure and Materials: The piece unfolds over two comfortable wooden shelves richly inlaid with exquisite wooden veneers. The characteristic curved legs (cabriole legs) support a solid and balanced frame.
Decorations: The upper surface and the bands feature meticulous cabinetmaking work with geometric inlays in diamond patterns and floral details. The piece is further enriched by gilt and hammered brass applications and decorations, visible on both the side bands and the feet.
Functionality: On the side there is a drawer finished with a decorative handle. The distinctive feature is the practical removable writing surface lined with green leather, which instantly transforms the object into a functional, discreet antique writing desk.
Condition: The furniture is structurally sound and very solid. It bears the patina of time and only requires a small conservational restoration on the superficial varnish to restore its original glossy brilliance.
